Some Quick Thoughts on Oatmeal

Whoever said oatmeal must be a sweet breakfast food is a DAMN LIAR! I'll eat it for every meal. Hell, I'll eat it with pesto–that's how dedicated I am to unconventional oatmeal. Want to mix up your oatmeal, but you're unsure of how? Strap in folks, because I'm gonna tell ya! First thing's first, make a bowl of oats (I use Trader Joe's Quick Cook Steel Cut Oats). Set that aside, then start cooking an egg. You can scramble it, poach it, or cook it on the hood of your car for all I care. After that, add veggies. Whatever you keep in your fridge or freezer will do. Just make sure it isn't something weird–like cucumber. Whenever you're done cooking that stuff, mix it into your bowl of oatmeal. It won't look like much at first, but once you add toppings, it'll come together. Just add whatever you want. I added goat cheese, thyme, Everything But The Bagel Seasoning, and Coconut Aminos. Toppings can include soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, toasted almonds, cheddar cheese, or just random stuff in your spice cabinet–I do that most of the time. Just eat it however you want. I promise you won't hate it.
Buon appetito!
